About the Pines

Our historic kauri homestead with its separate en suite cottage accommodation was built in 1880 for W.H. Stevens, an enigmatic Englishman whose tenure is shrouded in mystery and romance.

Experience today’s elegance and comfort in the ambience of the past in a unique homestay environment.

We have 25 acres of rolling bush and farmland,a step away from SH 12, and we offer guest meals from the simple to the sublime.

Enjoy a continental breakfast, or you may fancy a fresh flounder fillet from the cool waters of the Kaipara Harbour, served in our luxuriously appointed cottage accommodation. (Miss Pharoah’s Cottage.) A simple twin bedroom is immediately adjacent, to accommodate a total of four guests.

If you care to join us for dinner, by arrangement, we can tell you the titillating story of The Pines over a convivial glass, oysters perhaps, and a sizzling roast of lamb, beef or pork from the original wood-fired stove in the main house.

Perhaps a slice of blackberry pie…?
